How to Set Up a DHCP Server on Windows Server 2022

This guide will walk you through the steps to install and configure a DHCP server on Windows Server 2022.

Step 1: Install DHCP Server Role

1. Open Server Manager and select ManageAdd Roles and Features.

2. In the wizard, select Role-based or feature-based installation.

3. Select your server from the list.

4. Under Server Roles, check DHCP Server and click Next.

5. Click Install to begin the installation.

Step 2: Configure DHCP Server

1. Open Server Manager and click DHCP from the left menu.

2. Select your server and expand the dropdown.

3. Right-click IPv4 and select New Scope...

Step 3: Authorize the DHCP Server

1. In Server Manager, go to DHCP.

2. Right-click the server name and select Authorize.

3. Refresh the server node to confirm the authorization status.

Step 4: Verify the DHCP Server

1. Open Command Prompt on a client computer.

2. Run ipconfig /renew to request a new IP address.

3. Verify the IP address matches the assigned DHCP range.
